Land Rover has a genuine following in the UAE, and Carzle's listings reflect that. The live count, price band, median mileage and model-year range for the brand are in the summary at the top of this page, and they change as stock turns over - read those numbers there rather than anywhere else, including here. What stays constant is the shape of the market: Range Rover and Defender are the volume nameplates, with Range Rover Sport and Evoque behind them, and the platform skews toward recent, comparatively low-mileage cars rather than older, harder-worked examples. That distinction matters, because whether the car in front of you is effectively new or has real kilometres on it changes which of the checks below deserve the most attention.
GCC spec vs. export spec
New Land Rovers are sold in the UAE through Al Tayer Motors, the official distributor for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and Premier Motors, the official dealer for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Cars bought new through this network are built to GCC specification, with cooling and filtration suited to regional heat and dust, and carry Land Rover's UAE new-vehicle warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first, transferable to subsequent owners within that period. Grey-import or export-spec Land Rovers do circulate in the secondary market, usually at a discount, but they fall outside that manufacturer warranty, can have air conditioning and cooling systems undersized for UAE summers, and may be harder to source genuine parts for. Ask for the VIN and confirm build spec and warranty status with Al Tayer Motors or Premier Motors before committing to a deal.
Pre-purchase checks
The most commonly reported weak points on ageing Land Rovers are the air suspension system - struts, compressor, and air lines - and electrical faults, particularly warning-light cascades linked to a weakening battery, given how much of the car's suspension, terrain response, and driver-assistance functionality runs through its electronics. This risk rises as a vehicle ages and accumulates mileage rather than kicking in at any single fixed point, and the UAE's heat is generally considered to accelerate wear on both fronts. Check the median mileage in the summary above against the specific car you are considering: on a near-delivery-mileage example this is a minor concern, while on a car with genuine years and kilometres behind it these are the first two systems to have inspected. Either way it is worth checking ride height consistency, suspension warning lights, and battery and electrical health during a test drive and diagnostic scan, whatever the odometer reads. If you're looking at a used example that isn't fresh off a lease, ask whether it qualifies for Land Rover's official Approved Used certified programme: eligible cars are under 5 years old and under 145,000 km, go through a 165-point inspection, and carry a minimum 2-year warranty with no cap on the number of claims, up to the vehicle's purchase price.
Red flags
Beyond the usual mismatched panel gaps, inconsistent paint finish in direct sunlight, and overspray on rubber seals that signal prior bodywork, pay close attention to ride height on a Land Rover specifically - a car sitting unevenly or noticeably lower than spec is a classic sign of failing air suspension, and a costly repair to inherit. A dashboard suspension or electrical warning light that the seller dismisses as "just needs a reset" should be treated as a serious negotiating point, not a footnote.
Registration transfer
A straightforward Dubai-to-Dubai transfer runs the standard AED 350 RTA core fee plus plate fees, typically totalling AED 500-700 excluding insurance; a vehicle inspection (roughly AED 150-200) is required once a car passes three years old. Check the model-year range in the summary above and then the car's actual registration date - a recent Range Rover or Defender may still sit inside that three-year window, in which case the inspection step does not apply. If the car is registered in another emirate, you'll also need an NOC from that emirate's traffic authority (around AED 100-250). Budget one to three hours at an RTA service centre, and cross-check the VIN against RTA vehicle records via the RTA's own app (RTA Dubai), Dubai Police vehicle inquiry, or TAMM for an Abu Dhabi-registered car before you commit.
Financing and value
All the major UAE banks - Emirates NBD, FAB, ADCB, Emirates Islamic, Dubai Islamic Bank, and others - finance Land Rovers, typically up to around 80% loan-to-value depending on the bank, your salary transfer status, and the vehicle's age, with conventional financing tightening or disappearing on cars over five to seven years old; Islamic finance structures such as Ijara or Murabaha are widely available as an alternative. On resale, the Defender and Range Rover - the brand's two volume nameplates here - have built a reputation in the UAE for holding value comparatively well relative to other luxury SUVs, helped by sustained local demand for both nameplates. Running costs - fuel, insurance, and parts - also tend to sit toward the higher end of the luxury SUV segment, so factor ongoing ownership cost into the decision alongside the purchase price, especially once a car is out of its factory warranty period.
